Lets start with a Google Review...

After attending a taster session that Trish hosted, I saw an opportunity to support the young carers and their families that I work with. ( Carers Trust Heart of England, Young Carers)

The combination of talking and drawing in these sessions allowed the young carers to explore their emotions in a creative and therapeutic way. It has helped them gain a deeper understanding of their feelings and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

The feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. They have witnessed noticeable improvements in their children's emotional state and overall resilience.

It has been an opportunity to share feelings and be heard without judgment.

Trish's warm and inclusive approach has made the young carers and their families feel comfortable and valued. She understands their unique challenges and has offered the necessary support and guidance throughout the 6 sessions. Her genuine empathy and patience has made a significant difference in their emotional well-being.

I look forward to supporting more families with the support of Trish.

Time to Think

I have enjoyed listening to other peoples' experiences and being creative.
I would have liked longer sessions, with more time at the end to de-brief.
The sessions have given me some time to think about emotions and how they effect me.

Time Together

I loved doing it with my child (time for us).  The group was lovely and it was good to hear that others go through the same struggles.
The sessions were relaxed and fun so you feel comfortable to share.
It helped with wellbeing, talking it through and hearing from other people, as we are all going through tough times, but we are not alone.

I enjoyed spending quality time with my mum.
I would have preferred more space.
I don't know how it has helped my wellbeing, but I did enjoy the sessions and would recommend to a friend.

*The venue we used had less tables available for the later sessions, this did mean less space, unfortunately.

Friendships

I have enjoyed being able to spend some one to one time with my child. I have been able to build friendships with the adults in the group from young carers.
It has enabled me to have a bit of time to myself and stop me from feeling so alone recently.
It's allowed me to explore emotions in a safe space.
I would have liked additional time at the end of the sessions.
It's made me realise I wasn't engaging with how I am feeling on a daily basis.  Through exploring emotions it has helped me express to my children how I am feeling.  I have pushed myself to not neglect myself.
I cannot wait to come back for further courses!

Would Recommend

I enjoyed the sessions, especially being creative and learning with my daughter about emotions.  I would have liked longer sessions for more time to talk and draw without rushing if there is a lot of people.  We are more able to talk about our feelings together now.

Sharing vulnerability

I have enjoyed the sessions and would recommend them, but I would advise future attendees to be a bit more prepared than I was to discuss some of the more difficult emotions.
It was good to learn to express and have difficult discussions about our emotional feelings and experiences.  It has given me the time and opportunity to explore and think about my own experience and trauma, from past and present.  It gave an opportunity for my daughter to see vulnerability and feel safe to do the same.
